How it works

MyRhythm App features three playing and studying modes: Study, Creative and Challenge.

All modes are fun and intuitive to use. Even more, all modes feature online helps to support you can review and learn more about that particulare mode.

The setting page allows you to choose pad sounds, groove styles and many more features. Remember that to make it easier for you all grooves have fixed tempo, instead you can pratice any rythm using the metronome and choosing the right tempo for your pratice.

Study Mode

Tap the rhythm on the top line on the BLUE or RIGHT pad, and the rhythm on the bottom line on the VIOLET or LEFT pad.

The dots that turn green were played correctly while the red dots show that your tap was either early or late.  If playing with both hands is too challenging in the beginning, try playing the rhythms with one hand at a time. To change the exercise, touch the NEW RHYTHM button. Listen to the rhythm as a musical phrase and not a mechanical exercise.

You can practice either with a fixed-tempo groove or at any tempo with the metronome.

Choose a groove in the SETTINGS menu under “groove styles”. Press the AUDIO button to turn the groove on/off. If you have chosen the metronome, you can then adjust the tempo.
All of the rhythms are organized into 4 levels of difficulty. Choose the level best suited for you with the LEVEL button.

The LOCKS on the right allow you to freeze the rhythm of the corresponding line. When a line is locked, the rhythm will remain the same when the other line is changed. You will find many sounds for the BLUE and VIOLET pads in the SETTINGS menu. Try playing the pads with your thumbs or index fingers.

Creative Mode

Create your own rhythms by touching the dots.

You can eliminate the colored dots by touching them once again. Press PLAY and then play the rhythm on the pads, as in StudyMode, either with a groove or with the metronome.
You cannot alter rhythms while the metronome or groove is playing. To change the rhythm, either press STOP or EDIT RHYTHM. Once the metronome or groove has stopped, you can change the rhythm as you like.

By pressing the “+” or “-” on the right of the screen, you can alter the length of the phrase. This allows you to create exercises that are 7, 6, 5 or 4 beats long, in addition to the default 8-beat phrases. The grooves will adjust to the new length of the measure.

Listen to the rhythm as a musical phrase and not a mechanical exercise.
You will find many sounds for the BLUE and VIOLET pads in the settings menu.

Challenge Mode

This is a “call and response” exercise. The app will select a rhythm and play it for you. After this you are called to repeat it!

Press PLAY and you will hear the written rhythm played by the app. The text will say “LOOK AND LISTEN”. The pads are NOT active when the app is playing.

After the rhythm has been played, the hands will appear on the pads and the text will say “PLAY IT NOW”. This is your turn to play the rhythm that you just heard on the pads. When you are done, the app will then repeat the rhythm again.

This “call and response” or hearing/remembering/repeating will continue for each rhythm until you decide to move on by pressing NEW RHYTHM. Listen to the rhythm as a musical phrase and not a mechanical exercise.

All of the rhythms are organized into 4 levels of difficulty. Choose the level best suited for you with the LEVEL button.

For an additional challenge, go to the SETTINGS menu and select “challenge mode hide dots”. This will make the rhythm invisible on the repeat and challenge you to play the rhythm from memory. The green and red colored dots will tell you if you’ve correctly played the rhythmic phrase.

You will find many sounds for the BLUE and VIOLET pads in the SETTINGS menu.

To make your practice perfectly suited to your interest and level, you can choose between the many fixed tempo grooves or practice at any tempo with the metronome.
